The new Capitol building, completed in 1932, stands on a 27-acre tract. The tallest capitol in the US , the building is 450 feet high with 34 floors offering spectacular views of the pleasant gardens below. There is tremendous symbolism throughout the interior and exterior design of the building, including the Hall and the Senate and House Chambers.

A National Historic Landmark , the Capitol is designed in art deco style with magnificent marble and bronze detailing inside. The Observation Deck on the 27th floor overlooks the city of Baton Rouge and the Mississippi River at a height of 350 feet.
